The Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) recently held its annual Prize Giving Awards ceremony at the Warwick Workmen’s Club, celebrating the commitment and achievements of players, coaches, and teams in the cricketing community.

Commemorating Cricket Legends

The evening commenced with a heartfelt tribute led by BCB president Lloyd Smith, honoring the memories of Winston Reid and Gary Fray. Both individuals were instrumental in nurturing the sport in Bermuda and will be sorely missed.

Government Support and Inspirational Speeches

This prestigious event was attended by Owen Darrell, Bermuda's Minister of Tourism, Transport, Culture & Sport. Darrell emphasized the role of cricket in shaping Bermuda’s cultural landscape and commended the senior men’s national team for their recent international triumphs.

Guest speaker Andre Coley, a former head coach with Cricket West Indies, captured the audience's attention with his insights into athletic discipline and the pathway forward for cricket in Bermuda. His words inspired players and officials alike to strive for excellence.

Team Achievements Recognized

Southampton Rangers Sports Club and Warwick Workmen’s Club were the stars of the night, each receiving recognition for their impressive performances across various competitions. Southampton Rangers clinched multiple titles in the Premier Division, establishing themselves as a dominant force.

The awards recognized individual excellence as well, with Allan Douglas Jr. named MVP of the 50 Overs Premier Division, having amassed an impressive 272 runs and 11 wickets. Onias Bascome also distinguished himself as the leading run-scorer in the same division with 306 runs to his credit.

In the First Division, the Warwick Workmen’s Club not only claimed the T20 championship but also shone in the knockout competitions. Malachi Jones stood out with exceptional stats, earning MVP honors in the T20 First Division.
