Editorial Policy
The standards behind our journalism: accuracy, fairness, independence and how we correct mistakes.
This policy sets out the principles that guide everything published on Sports World Zone. It applies to news reports, match coverage, previews, features and opinion pieces alike.
Accuracy
We work to get the facts right the first time. Results, statistics, quotes and other factual claims are checked against reliable sources before publication, and we attribute information to its source wherever it is not common knowledge. Where a story is developing, we say so, and we update it as more information becomes available.
Transfer news and rumours
Transfer stories move quickly and not every report proves accurate. We distinguish between confirmed deals, credible reports and speculation, and we make clear in our wording which of these a story represents. We do not present rumour as fact.
Fairness and balance
We aim to treat the people and organisations we write about fairly. Where an article contains significant criticism of an individual or club, we try to reflect their position or response where it is available. We do not publish material that is discriminatory, abusive or intended to harass.
Opinion and analysis
Analysis and opinion are an important part of sports coverage, and our writers are free to express their views. We label opinion clearly so readers can tell it apart from straight reporting, and we expect opinion to be grounded in fact.
Independence
Our coverage is decided on editorial grounds alone. We are not affiliated with any club, league, governing body, betting operator or broadcaster, and no advertiser or commercial partner has any say over what we report or how we report it. Any sponsored or paid-for content will be clearly labelled as such.
Betting content
Some of our racing and sports coverage includes previews and selections. These reflect the writer's opinion only, are offered for entertainment and are never a guarantee of any outcome. We support safer gambling and will not publish material aimed at people under 18. Please see our Responsible Gambling page.
Images
Many of our articles are illustrated with photographs chosen to represent the sport or subject of the story rather than the specific event, people or teams described. Unless a caption says otherwise, an image should not be taken to show the people named in the article.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we put it right as quickly as possible. Significant corrections are made in the article itself, and where a change alters the meaning of a story we will say that the article has been updated. To report an error, email [email protected] with the article in question and details of the correction.
