Amazon Launches Upgraded Alexa Tablets with Google Play Support

Recently, Amazon introduced an exciting range of Alexa tablets, designed to elevate the user experience with better construction and enhanced functionality. The lineup includes three models, showcasing a shift from budget-oriented devices to premium tablets.

A Premium Range of Tablets

The new Alexa Tablets start at $230 for the 8-inch model, going up to $500 for the 12-inch Pro version. Alongside the tablet upgrades, Amazon unveiled two colorful new Kids’ Tablets, which cater to younger users.

Access to Google Play

One of the key highlights of the new Alexa Tablets is their support for Google Play. For the first time, users will have access to a broader selection of apps beyond Amazon’s own store, resolving a long-standing concern among users. This opens doors for downloading popular applications and games.

Enhanced Integration of Alexa+

These tablets are built to optimize interaction with Alexa+, Amazon's voice assistant. Users can enjoy seamless conversations without needing to say the wake word repeatedly. The assistant is now integrated into the user interface, enabling it to provide assistance based on what's displayed on the screen, significantly enhancing the user experience.

Improved Hardware Specifications

On the hardware front, the tablets showcase substantial upgrades. The standard Alexa Tablet 8 features 4GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of storage, suitable for everyday tasks. The Alexa Tablet 11 offers a performance boost with 8GB of RAM and maintains the same storage capacity, accommodating multimedia tasks effortlessly.

The highlight comes with the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, equipped with a powerful 4nm 8-core processor. Users can choose between 8GB or 16GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This model sports a vibrant 12-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, promising breathtaking visuals for both professional and leisure activities.

Accessories for the Pro Model

Adding to its appeal, Amazon offers accessories for the 12 Pro model. The Pro Pen is available for $90, featuring precise functionality with 4,096 pressure sensitivity levels and tilt detection. Additionally, a magnetic Pro Keyboard enhances productivity by removing the hassle of Bluetooth pairing.

New Options for Kids

The introduction of the Amazon Kids Tablet 8 and Kids Tablet 11, priced at $230 and $330 respectively, expands the tablet series. Designed for younger audiences, these devices come in bright colors and are bundled with features such as AI-driven storytelling and robust parental controls.

Both Kids Tablets now utilize Android rather than FireOS, offering better hardware and display options. However, it's important to note that the warranty period has decreased to just one year, a shift from the previous two-year guarantee.

A Shift Towards Premium Devices

The launch of these new Alexa Tablets signals Amazon's commitment to competing in the premium tablet market. With their comprehensive features, advanced technology, and access to Google Play, these devices are poised to attract a wide range of users, from casual hobbyists to professionals in need of reliable performance.
