Gerwyn Price Takes a Break from Darts Events for Family Reasons
Gerwyn Price has confirmed his withdrawal from upcoming darts exhibitions as he prioritizes time with his family.
Welsh darts star Gerwyn Price has announced a significant change in his schedule, withdrawing from all scheduled exhibition appearances for personal reasons. This decision comes as he focuses on spending more time with his family, especially with exciting news on the horizon as he is set to become a grandfather next year.
Withdrawal Announcement
On Wednesday, MODUS Sports Management and MDA Events shared that Price would be stepping back from non-PDC events for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027. His initial announcement included an apology for the short notice, expressing his hope that fans would understand his need for a break from the grind of non-PDC commitments.
Personal Statement from Price
Following this news, Price took to social media to provide a more personal clarification. The renowned player reassured fans that he is in good health and simply needs time away from the competitive circuit.
In his Instagram story, he addressed his followers, saying, “Thanks everyone for your concerns I’m absolutely fine just need time at home and not constantly on the road, I’m absolutely loving darts atm and I hope this continues.”
He reflected on the sacrifices he has made in the past, stating, “In previous years I’ve always made the sacrifices and never missed events, whether it’s exhibitions or PDC tournaments and invitational events.” However, his experiences throughout the year have prompted a shift in his priorities.
Price emphasized: “You can never buy time and time is what’s most important.” This indicates a conscious decision to prioritize family life alongside his bustling career.
Future Engagements
Despite this change, fans will still see plenty of Price on the oche. He is expected to return for the Grand Slam of Darts scheduled for November 14 at Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton. Although he could potentially participate in the final two Players Championship tournaments in Leicester next week, most sources believe he is unlikely to do so.
Looking ahead, Price will also be part of the highly anticipated PDC World Darts Championship, running from December 11, 2026, to January 3, 2027. Following a surprising second-round exit in the previous year where he lost 3-0 to Wesley Plaisier, he will aim to make a stronger impact this time around.
As Price shifts his focus to family and the excitement of impending grandparenthood, fans can appreciate his commitment to balancing both personal and professional commitments.
