Exciting News in Horse Racing: Regaleira, Betting Tickets, and Monroe Walk!

As the horse racing season heats up, three exciting stories have emerged, making headlines this week.

Regaleira's New Jockey Partnership

In a big announcement today, Regaleira will be teaming up with jockey Mirai Iwata for the forthcoming Tenno Sho (Autumn) on November 1st. This marks the first time Iwata will ride the five-year-old mare owned by Tetsuya Kimura, who has already secured three G1 victories in her career.

Previously, Regaleira has been partnered with renowned jockeys including Lemaire, Kitamura, and Tosaki, each contributing to her G1 accolades. Her latest race saw her finish in fourth place at the All Comers, making her next outing critical as she strives for a fourth consecutive year of G1 victories.

The Road Ahead for Regaleira

Since her last race, Regaleira has been resting at Northern Farm Tenei in Fukushima and resumed training at the Miho Training Center on October 11th. As of now, she is among 17 horses expected to compete in the prestigious Tenno Sho, a 2000-meter turf race at Tokyo.

Expanded Betting Opportunities for International Races

The Japan Racing Association (JRA) has also made headlines by announcing that they will be offering betting tickets for six races at the American Breeders' Cup, including the Melbourne Cup for the first time in seven years.

The Breeders' Cup will take place at Keeneland Racecourse in Kentucky, featuring races from November 1st, including the BC Classic. This year, in addition to the champion horse Forever Young, two other Japanese contestants, T O Elvis and American Stage, are set to enter the fray, making for a thrilling lineup.

Melbourne Cup Returns

Meanwhile, the Melbourne Cup is set for November 3rd at Flemington Racecourse. Notably, Stinger Grass, the Diamond Stakes champion, will represent Japan and has already reached Australia in preparation. After several years without ticket sales for this iconic race since 2019, fans are eager for its return.

Monroe Walk's Energetic Recovery Post-Shuka Sho

Lastly, Monroe Walk, fresh off her victory at the Shuka Sho, is showing positive signs of recovery at the Ritto Training Center. Despite the demanding race, she returned home the same evening and has been reported to be lively and in good spirits.

The staff at Ritto are optimistic, with her groom noting that she's eating well and appears to be friendly and full of energy. Trainer Hiroyuki Kamimura expressed pride in the achievement, celebrating a familial bond between the trainer and groom as they both participated in a G1 victory.

Reflections and Celebrations

Post-race, jockey Tosaki shared moments from his win through a YouTube video, reflecting on the race’s pivotal moments. His light-hearted remarks about his nickname—the 'Yutaka Take of the Reiwa era'—showcased his humor and appreciation for legacy.

This week promises to be full of excitement as we look forward to the upcoming major races and the jockeys and horses gearing up for additional competitions. Stay tuned for more updates and insights into this exhilarating world!
