Alvarez's Potential Best at Barcelona

Julian Alvarez's future was widely discussed this summer, with notable figures weighing in on his potential moves. Maxi Lopez, a former professional footballer from Argentina, believes that Alvarez would have benefited greatly from a transfer to Barcelona.

The 26-year-old striker's tenure at Atletico Madrid saw him vocalize a desire for a new challenge while representing Argentina at the ongoing 2026 World Cup. According to Lopez, Barcelona was the ideal club for Alvarez to maximize his abilities and become a top-tier player.

Lopez explained, “I would have liked to see him at Barcelona because he’s the number nine for the Argentine national team. He could reach another level there.” He acknowledged the impressive work Diego Simeone has done at Atletico but stressed that Alvarez's style would be more suited to the attractive football Barcelona is known for.

Asking Price Revealed for Tresoldi

Arsenal is reportedly keen on signing Nicolo Tresoldi from Club Brugge, and the fee required is estimated to be around €50 million (£41.8 million). This comes from reliable transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, who revealed that Tresoldi is among the most exciting young talents in Europe.

The 22-year-old forward has been in sensational form, scoring 12 goals in just 14 appearances this season, including a memorable hat-trick against Inter Milan in the Champions League. The Gunners have had a positive relationship with Brugge following their recent acquisition of Christos Tzolis from the Belgian club.

Arsenal's task won't be easy; they will need to exceed the €40 million (£35 million) fee paid for Tzolis to secure Tresoldi's services. Earlier in the transfer window, Barcelona also considered Tresoldi but opted for Gabriel Jesus after being put off by the asking price.

Varela: An In-Demand Talent

Another player catching Arsenal's eye is Gustavo Varela from Monza. The 21-year-old striker has made a significant impact in Serie A, tying for the top spot in goals scored with seven in as many matches, despite his team's modest position in the league.

Reportedly, Arsenal is not the only club interested in Varela. Italian outlet Calciomercato indicates that both Napoli and Benfica are also keen on the Portugal Under-21 international.

Varela's transfer to Monza included a specific clause allowing Benfica to match any offers made for him, adding to the competition for Arsenal.

Nwaneri Struggles at Dortmund

Meanwhile, Ethan Nwaneri, loaned to Borussia Dortmund, has not yet made the impact expected of him. The England Under-21 international has appeared nine times this season but is still searching for his first contribution in goal or assist.

Dortmund is feeling the pressure as they prepare for an important clash against Bayern Munich. They are particularly concerned about the fitness of star player Konstantinos Karetsas, as the alternatives, including Nwaneri, have yet to leave a lasting impression.

Reports suggest that Dortmund's coaching staff is worried about the depth in their attacking midfield, especially with an upcoming critical match against the Bundesliga's top team. Nwaneri will need to elevate his game to prove his worth at Dortmund in the crucial weeks ahead.
