Rosie Galligan says England’s Rugby World Cup victory can be a catalyst for getting more girls into sport. The Saracens forward reflected on a memorable 2025 season in which she played a role in England’s tournament triumph and spoke about the responsibility and privilege of being a visible role model.
Galligan paid tribute to team-mates, coaches and family, stressing that the behind-the-scenes collective effort made the on-field success possible. She emphasised the role grassroots clubs and school programmes play in helping young players discover and develop their talents.
“I want girls to know that rugby — and sport more broadly — is for them,” Galligan said. “Seeing women play at the highest level can change what girls imagine for themselves. If my journey encourages even one child to pick up a ball, it’s worth it.”
She called for sustained investment in facilities, coaching and opportunities for young women, urging fans and the wider game to carry the World Cup momentum into domestic and community levels. Galligan said sustained visibility, clear pathways and accessible entry points are essential to growing participation.
Returning to club duties with Saracens, she plans to keep using her platform to promote inclusion and help make sport a welcoming place for the next generation.
