Keegan Bradley won 11 skins — nine of them across just two holes — to claim the Skins Game and $2.1 million as the event returned after a 17-year hiatus.
Bradley holed a 7-foot putt on the 13th at Panther National to collect $900,000, that sum including carryovers from the previous three holes. His first sizable payday came on the opening hole, which paid five skins after the first four holes produced no outright winner.
Tommy Fleetwood took the final hole, which was worth three skins with carryovers, and earned $1,125,000 on that hole alone. He finished second overall with $1.7 million. Shane Lowry, who stepped in for the injured Justin Thomas, won one skin and collected $200,000. Xander Schauffele failed to win a skin.
The $1,125,000 payout on Fleetwood’s final hole was the largest single payoff in Skins Game history — notable because the total purse was only $1 million the last time the event was played in 2008.
How the Skins Game works:
– The player with the most money at the end is the winner.
– A hole is won by the player with the fewest strokes on that hole.
– The winner of a hole receives that hole’s value plus any carryover money and skins.
– If players tie a hole, the skin and its value carry over to the next hole.
Hole values used in this edition:
– Holes 1–5: $100,000 each
– Holes 6–9: $200,000 each
– Hole 14: $400,000
– Hole 15: $500,000
– Hole 16: $600,000
Format tweaks for the return: the event was played over 16 holes on Friday morning rather than 18 holes across two days over Thanksgiving weekend. Each player started with $1 million and had money deducted when another player won skins, creating immediate financial swings as skins changed hands.
