Rosie Galligan says she hopes England’s Rugby World Cup success will help inspire more girls to take up sport. The Saracens forward reflected on a special 2025 after playing a part in England’s tournament triumph and spoke about the responsibility and privilege of being a visible role model.
Galligan paid tribute to team-mates, coaches and family who supported her through the season, saying the collective effort behind the scenes made the on-field success possible. She highlighted the importance of grassroots clubs and school programmes in giving young players the chance to discover and develop their abilities.
“I want girls to know that rugby — and sport more broadly — is for them,” Galligan said. “Seeing women play at the highest level can change what girls imagine for themselves. If my journey encourages even one child to pick up a ball, it’s worth it.”
She also called for continued investment in facilities, coaching and opportunities for young women, and urged fans and the wider game to keep momentum from the World Cup going into domestic and community levels. Galligan believes sustained visibility, positive pathways and accessible entry points are key to growing participation.
As she returns to club duties with Saracens, Galligan said she will keep using her platform to promote inclusion and to help make sport a welcoming place for the next generation.
