It’s a busy Tuesday on Sky Sports Racing with live action from Bath, Hereford and Lingfield. Here’s a race-by-race look at the key contests and horses to watch.
4.23 Bath – Galaxy Wonder attempts hat-trick
A five-runner field tackles the Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com Handicap over 1m 2f. Tony Carroll’s Galaxy Wonder bids for a third straight victory after wins at Wolverhampton in March and at Bath last month. The four-year-old steps up in trip and carries a career-high rating.
Denis Coakley’s Party Island is the principal danger after a comfortable course-and-distance success 15 days ago under George Bass. Heather Main’s Prodigal Son returned from a 140-day break to prevail in first-time blinkers at Bath and now steps up in trip with Rossa Ryan taking the mount. Warren Greatrex’s Premier reverts to the flat after a winter spin over hurdles, while Richard Hughes’ Criminal goes in first-time cheekpieces seeking a first career victory.
5.15 Lingfield – In-form Arc Zoosve targets fourth straight
Six go to post in the Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com Apprentice Handicap over two miles. Neil King’s five-year-old Arc Zoosve arrives in excellent form and looks for a four-timer after completing a hat-trick at Goodwood ten days ago. Jack Callan takes the ride for the first time and the gelding must carry a career-high mark.
An Bradan Feasa, trained by Jack Jones, hasn’t raced since November but was successful on his last outing over today’s trip and seeks a seventh career win. The grey The Truant is still searching for a first all-weather success from six attempts but has run creditably, including a fourth at Southwell last month; James Glennon is back in the saddle. The field is completed by Mio Amico, Bulldog Spirit and top-weight Polling Day.
5.50 Lingfield – Unbeaten Always Happy looks to build on debut
A full field of 12 lines up for the Sky Sports Racing Virgin 519 Novice Stakes over a mile. Coolmore’s Always Happy, trained by Roger Varian, is unbeaten after a debut success at Southwell in March and holds an entry for the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. Ryan Moore rides the filly for the first time.
Andrew Balding’s newcomer Turret is an expensive yearling by Kingman, purchased for €580,000 and bred from a family that includes top-level performer Hydrangea. William Haggas sends York Tower, who was runner-up on both juvenile starts and steps up in trip with an eye on going one better. Ed Walker saddles Tropical Sands, a Too Darn Hot filly racing for the King and Queen on debut and related to several winners.
