Britain’s Ben Woolliss will follow up his stunning ONE Championship debut when he returns to action on May 16, live on Sky Sports. At Lumpinee Stadium in Thailand, Woolliss will meet Petchtanong Petchfergus in a bantamweight kickboxing contest on ONE Fight Night 43.
Petchfergus is a former ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion, giving Woolliss a high-profile test after his explosive promotional arrival. The Grimsby fighter has battled long-term health issues in recent years but signed with ONE and made his debut last month on just nine days’ notice.
That short-notice assignment saw Woolliss step in against former ONE bantamweight MMA world champion John Lineker in a featherweight kickboxing bout. Known for devastating punching power, Lineker was stopped in one round as Woolliss secured a spectacular finish with damaging low kicks.
On the same card, Chinese star Tang Kai defends his ONE featherweight MMA world title against Shamil “The Cobra” Gasanov. Tang has demolished every featherweight in his path, while Gasanov brings a near-flawless record, powerful striking, strong grappling and submission skills. Having avenged his only career loss, “The Cobra” poses a serious threat as he looks to seize the title.
