Group 3 Prix Sigy at Chantilly is the highlight on Tuesday’s Sky Sports Racing card, with Karl Burke’s unbeaten filly Soul Love travelling to France for the sprint feature.
3.50 Chantilly – Moojeed, Soul Love and Argentine Tango set for a hot renewal
Soul Love, trained by Karl Burke and ridden by Sam James, arrives unbeaten after two impressive all-weather wins. By Starman, she has shown enough in those starts to deserve a step up in class; another forward move will be required if she is to mix it with this quality group, but she looks a filly with some scope.
Francis-Henri Graffard sends Moojeed, who carried Group 3 form as a two-year-old but disappointed behind Green Sense in the Prix Robert Papin; she should be capable of a bounce-back under Mickael Barzalona. Argentine Tango was campaigned at a high level at two, including a Listed win at Newmarket, and connections report her in fine order, so she should run her race. Joseph O’Brien’s Yaupon De Replay and Kimi Rey are perhaps the best of the remainder.
5.30 Lingfield – Lara Antipova and Lahan Kingman head a competitive fillies’ maiden
At Lingfield, the Download The At The Races App Restricted Maiden Fillies’ Stakes looks to have two promising contenders in Lara Antipova and Lahan Kingman. Tom Clover’s Lara Antipova shaped well on her debut at Wetherby last June and was a close second on her return at Wolverhampton in February, pulling clear of the third and suggesting she is ready to go one better.
Lahan Kingman was third to Guineas hopeful Touleen on her first start at Newbury and ran with credit when runner-up at Wolverhampton on her latest outing; she can be expected to improve again after showing a little greenness. Andrew Balding’s Leonie is another to consider, while Cosmic makes her debut for Richard Hannon and Stolen completes the quintet.
4.52 Newton Abbot – Soldierofthestorm and Tapley clash in the handicap chase
Newton Abbot’s six-race jumping card features the Visit Kauto The King 6th May Handicap Chase, where recent winners Soldierofthestorm and Tapley headline the betting. Jonjo O’Neill Jr’s Soldierofthestorm finally opened his account over fences at Sandown last month, producing a near-flawless round of jumping; he carries a 5 lb penalty but looks the one to beat if repeating that form.
Tapley, trained by Suzy Smith, has built on a couple of close efforts to nab a second chasing success at Stratford and looks the main threat with Isabelle Ryder taking the ride. Sheldon, who ran a solid second at Newbury, deserves a second look, although he has been without a win for over two years.
