Kevin Sinfield has completed his annual 7-in-7 challenge for the sixth straight year, running seven ultramarathons of at least 28 miles in seven days. His 2025 effort raised £1.15 million for motor neurone disease (MND) charities, and across all campaigns Sinfield and his team have now raised more than £11 million for MND causes.
Sinfield confirmed the 2026 7-in-7 will finish at the Betfred Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday 3 October. He intends to begin the next challenge in Hull and run a route through rugby league heartlands, aiming to visit all 12 Super League clubs based in England as part of the week-long effort.
Last year’s run started at Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club on Monday and concluded at AMT Headingley on Sunday, with the team covering ultra distances in seven different regions. During the week Sinfield was joined by sporting figures including Jessica Ennis-Hill, Jonny Brownlee and Josh Warrington.
The 7-in-7 campaign was inspired by Sinfield’s former Leeds Rhinos team-mate Rob Burrow, who died in 2024 after living with MND for four and a half years. Sinfield said the number seven holds special meaning because it was Burrow’s shirt number and recalled how Burrow used to light up Old Trafford. Ending the 2026 challenge there is intended to bring the rugby league community together to celebrate Rob and to raise awareness and support for people affected by MND.
Sinfield added that the team wants everyone in that community to feel loved and cared for, especially during their darkest moments. To make the Old Trafford finale possible, the 2026 7-in-7 will start earlier than usual, beginning in September rather than December.
