Red Bull has announced a technical reshuffle intended to reinforce its focus on performance and innovation.
Ben Waterhouse, who joined Red Bull in 2017 and has served as head of performance engineering, has been promoted to chief performance and design engineer. In this expanded leadership role he will report to technical director Pierre Wache and take responsibility across design and vehicle performance, a change the team says will strengthen the integration between those areas and speed up development of competitive solutions.
From July 1 Andrea Landi will join Red Bull from sister team Racing Bulls as head of performance. Landi has been Racing Bulls’ deputy technical director and previously worked at Ferrari as deputy head of vehicle performance. He will report to Waterhouse.
Red Bull said the adjustments support its long-term technical ambitions and reflect a strategy of developing internal talent while bringing in leading expertise from across the sport.
The move comes against the backdrop of a challenging start to the new regulations. After three races Red Bull sit sixth in the Constructors’ Championship, 119 points behind early leaders Mercedes. The team has also seen several key departures in recent seasons, most notably Gianpiero Lambiase, Max Verstappen’s race engineer and head of racing, who has agreed to join McLaren in 2028 when his contract ends.
Formula 1 returns on May 1-3 with the Miami Grand Prix, the season’s second Sprint weekend.
