Sky Sports Racing heads to Hereford on Wednesday with live coverage of all seven races from 2pm.
2.30 Hereford – Knockanore and Despereaux headline
A tricky renewal of the Hereford Bull Trail Launch 2026 Handicap Hurdle features a compact field of seven, with Despereaux and Knockanore the most intriguing entries.
Despereaux arrives off a course-and-distance success in December when he stayed on to beat Tzarmix. That was his fifth career victory, and although he returns from a break carrying an extra 6lb, he must be respected on that evidence.
Ryan Potter’s Knockanore, best known for his Eider Chase success last season, disappointed when only seventh on his most recent outing but continues to ease in the weights. Potter will try blinkers as he looks to revive the gelding’s form.
Dwight K Schrute has been running creditably, including a close second at Sedgefield on his last start, and is 1lb lower in the weights here. D’Jo Dela Barriere drops back to his last winning mark of 104 and, with previous course form to his name, is another to consider.
4.30 Hereford – Consistent Emerald Breeze seeks first success
The Coneleys Theme Park Fun Fair Handicap Hurdle looks competitive, with Emerald Breeze the obvious hope for connections after several solid novice hurdle performances this winter. Now on his handicap debut, the step up in trip looks likely to suit and he could be primed to break his maiden.
Top Coeur, a recent arrival for Christian Williams and to be ridden by Jack Tudor, makes his stable and handicap debut after showing promise in bumpers and over hurdles in Ireland; the market should help gauge his chance. Vol Royale, who produced back-to-back wins earlier in the season, disappointed on his latest start and will carry top weight here, but Harry Cobden has been in strong form for trainer Kayley Woollacott this term (a 55% strike-rate when teaming up). Of the rest, Wolf Moon has had a wind operation, while El Curamach, third at Newbury, merits consideration.
2.00 Hereford – Last-time winner Kingcormac features
The card opens with the Charity Partner We Are Farming Minds Handicap Chase, where Kingcormac is the one to beat. Joe Tickle’s 10-year-old showed improved form to win over this course and 2m 5f earlier this month, securing a third success over fences. He goes up 6lb but a repeat of that performance would put him in contention.
Kapamazov is still seeking a first success over jumps after 20 attempts, but he has run respectably on his three starts for Laura Morgan and now joins Tony Carroll’s yard; he could pop up for his new stable. David Bridgwater sends out Kitsilano, who won at Leicester two starts ago and was only narrowly beaten when third at Plumpton last time; with Brendan Powell booked he cannot be discounted.
