Boxing has always produced strange, unforgettable scenes — from parachuting fans to ear-biting — and Kingsley Ibeh added a new one at Madison Square Garden. In a fight that ended in a split decision for Jarrell Miller, Ibeh landed a flurry that dislodged Miller’s hairpiece. The wig bounced loose between rounds, and Miller tore off what remained and hurled it into the crowd.
Ibeh said the hairpiece interrupted his focus, describing how he could feel the glue on his chest and gloves. He admitted being surprised when the hair started to come off and that the distraction affected him during the bout.
Though he disagreed with the judges and felt he deserved the decision, Ibeh downplayed the result, saying wins and losses are secondary to steady improvement. He also suggested the fight exposed something about Miller, using the phrase that he was ‘exposing all the undercover brothers’ and calling it the first time Miller had been revealed in that way.
Looking ahead, Ibeh is pushing for bigger opportunities. He’s open to fighting in the UK and named WBO heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley as a prime target. Other names he mentioned as potential opponents included Joe Joyce, but his message was broader: he won’t turn down a challenge and wants to face the best. He added that he hasn’t fought in the UK yet and is eager to take that step in his career.
