Warrington Wolves have confirmed captain George Williams will leave when his contract expires at the end of the 2026 Super League season, with the England skipper planning to pursue an NRL move in 2027. Williams has scored 35 tries in 91 appearances for the Wire.
Williams said he has loved his time at the club, that captaining the side has been a huge source of pride, and that he and Warrington have been open and supportive throughout discussions. He added his focus remains fully on the current season and that he is determined to finish his time at the club on a high.
Williams previously played in Australia for the Canberra Raiders in 2020 and 2021, and attracted interest from clubs down under at the end of the 2025 season. Warrington open the season at home to St Helens at 8pm on Friday February 13, live on Sky Sports. Sky Sports will again show every Super League game this season — including two matches in each round exclusively live, with the remaining five matches each week available on Sky Sports+.
