Four-time Formula One champion Alain Prost sustained a head injury during a home invasion in Nyon, Switzerland, Swiss media and police said. According to a Vaud Cantonal Police statement, the incident occurred on the morning of May 19 when several masked individuals entered the house, threatened the occupants and slightly injured a family member in the head. The intruders forced another family member — reported to be Prost’s son — to open a safe before fleeing with valuables; the full inventory of stolen items is still being assessed.
The police described the case as a major investigation carried out in cooperation with French authorities and border security. Regional Swiss and French police units, forensic teams, customs investigators and a psychological support team for the family have been involved. Swiss tabloid reporting said Prost, 71, was visibly shaken by the intrusion and has since moved away from his home on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Prost, nicknamed “Le Professeur,” won four F1 world championships in 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993. His 13-year top-level career included stints at Renault, McLaren, Ferrari and Williams and a well-known rivalry with Ayrton Senna. Authorities continue to investigate the break-in and seek those responsible.
