Three drivers arrive in Abu Dhabi with the championship still undecided for the first time in 15 years. Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri head to the season finale at Yas Marina fighting for the 2025 title.
Standings and scenarios
– Lando Norris leads the standings by 12 points over Max Verstappen and 16 over Oscar Piastri. A top-three finish on Sunday would be sufficient for Norris to clinch the championship, though nothing is guaranteed in F1.
– Verstappen and Piastri effectively need to win the race and rely on misfortune or a major error from Norris to overturn the deficit.
Constructors
– Mercedes hold a 33-point advantage over Red Bull in the battle for second place behind McLaren. Abu Dhabi is the last race with the current cars before sweeping regulation changes arrive for 2026, which could shuffle the order next year.
Yas Marina Circuit
– The 3.281-mile Yas Marina layout was reprofiled in 2021 to encourage more passing, with additional sweeping corners that make it easier for cars to follow one another.
– Prime overtaking opportunities remain at Turn Six and Turn Nine, located at the ends of the back straights. The final sector is a stern test of downforce, balance and tyre management.
Forecast
– Rain is not expected across the weekend. Daytime temperatures should reach around 28°C, falling to roughly 23°C for the evening sessions, including qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday.
