Ben Woolliss will return to action on May 16, live on Sky Sports, following a sensational ONE Championship debut. The Grimsby fighter will travel to Lumpinee Stadium in Thailand to meet former champion Petchtanong Petchfergus in a bantamweight kickboxing bout on ONE Fight Night 43.
Petchtanong is a former ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion, providing Woolliss with a high-profile test after his explosive arrival on the promotion.
Woolliss, who has battled long-term health issues in recent years, signed with ONE and made his debut last month on just nine days’ notice. That short-notice call saw him step in against former ONE bantamweight MMA world champion John Lineker in a featherweight kickboxing contest.
Lineker, renowned for his devastating punching power, was stopped inside the first round when Woolliss produced a spectacular finish with damaging low kicks.
Also on the May 16 card, Chinese star Tang Kai will defend his ONE featherweight MMA world title against Shamil Gasanov. Tang has dismantled every contender in his division, while Gasanov — nicknamed ‘The Cobra’ — brings a near-flawless record, heavy striking, and strong grappling and submission skills. Having avenged his only career loss, Gasanov represents a serious threat as he looks to capture the title.
