We have a busy Sunday of racing live on Sky Sports Racing from Bath, Plumpton, Southwell and ParisLongchamp.
4.05 Plumpton – BetGoodwin Sussex Champion Hurdle: Classy Mondo Man headlines
Mondo Man tops the line-up for the BetGoodwin Sussex Champion Hurdle at Plumpton, aiming to follow up his eye-catching run in the Imperial Cup. Gary and Josh Moore will run their dual‑purpose star in this valuable contest, won last year by Absurde for Willie Mullins. Rated 105 on the Flat, the Moores have Royal Ascot targets on the horizon and this prize could be a stepping stone. Fergal O’Brien’s Serious Challenge, rated 135, arrives following a narrow defeat in the Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso and is expected to be competitive.
4.00 ParisLongchamp – Prix d’Harcourt: Cualificar and Bay City Roller reoppose
Eight go to post in the Group Two Prix d’Harcourt, featuring a rematch between Cualificar and Bay City Roller. Cualificar, for Godolphin and André Fabre, was 15th in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe after earlier winning the Prix Niel, where he got the better of Bay City Roller; Alexis Pouchin resumes the ride. Bay City Roller has since added a Group One when winning the Grosser Preis von Bayern and seeks a winning return despite conceding weight to many rivals. Leffard, the Grand Prix de Paris winner, finished behind both in the Prix Niel but improved in the Arc and can’t be discounted. Wathnan Racing’s First Look, who beat Bay City Roller in the Prix Dollar and ran well in the Champion Stakes, and the progressive Best Secret, who beat one-time Derby hope Gethin in the Prix Turenne, also command respect.
3.10 Bath – Listed Lansdown Stakes: Beautiful Diamond vs Miss Attitude
The Listed Lansdown Stakes at Bath attracts 14 runners, led by Beautiful Diamond and Miss Attitude. Beautiful Diamond, trained by Karl Burke, has raced in Group One company and won a Listed at Ayr; she is the highest-rated in the field. Miss Attitude, a Listed winner at Deauville last summer, is the principal danger. Hold A Dream (Clive Cox) and Shine On Me (Archie Watson) are notable threats — Shine On Me may take advantage if she improves from two to three while receiving weight from older rivals.
