Hull held off a spirited second-half Catalans fightback to claim back-to-back Betfred Super League wins, beating Catalans 24-20 at the MKM Stadium.
Brimming with confidence after last week’s victory over Leeds, Hull dominated the first half, scoring four tries through Arthur Romano, Lewis Martin, Logan Moy and Sam Lisone. Romano opened the scoring after four minutes, and Hull’s second came in the 13th minute when a Catalans error allowed James Bell to feed Martin for his fourth try of the season. Davy Litten then found Bell with a high kick, and Bell set up Moy for Hull’s third. Lisone, on for only a few seconds, crashed over with his first touch to give Hull a healthy half-time lead.
The script changed after the interval as Catalans produced a fierce response, crossing four times in 12 minutes. Lenny Marc touched down first, then Leo Darrelatour scored twice — including a converted try from the corner that cut the deficit to two points — before Charlie Staines crossed to set up a tense final ten minutes.
Hull were relieved when they were awarded a penalty for a mid-air tackle on Moy late in the game; Zak Hardaker converted to extend the lead and settle the contest for the home side.
Images from the match included Hull’s Davy Litten saluting the fans and Ligi Sao being tackled by Catalans’ Kruise Leeming close to the line.
