Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has criticised Mohamed Salah after comments the Liverpool forward made following the Reds’ 3-3 draw with Leeds. Sherwood said Salah was “bang out of order” and insisted that Arne Slot is the club’s manager, “not his babysitter.”
Sherwood, speaking on television, argued that senior players must act with respect and responsibility, particularly when addressing the media after a disappointing result. He suggested that public criticism from a player undermines the manager’s authority and can unsettle a squad, saying top professionals should resolve issues internally rather than creating headlines.
The remarks come after a tense encounter at Anfield that finished level, with Salah making post-match comments that drew attention. Liverpool and Slot have made no extended public response to Sherwood’s critique, while supporters and pundits remain divided over whether player feedback to the media crosses a line.
Sherwood called for clear leadership from both players and management, adding that if there are concerns within the dressing room they should be handled behind closed doors to preserve unity and protect the manager’s position.
