We have a full programme of racing on Wednesday, with live coverage from Ffos Las and Yarmouth on Sky Sports Racing.
6.10 Yarmouth – Rogue Imperial and Easy Answer eye Ascot potential
A field of eight two-year-olds go to post for the valuable British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes at Yarmouth.
Rogue Imperial, trained by Archie Watson and ridden by Harry Davies, looks a lively debut contender. A 170,000gns purchase, he is a half-brother to Goodwood Galaxy and joins the race with market expectations to guide him.
Easy Answer is an intriguing Michael Bell newcomer with Hector Crouch booked. By No Nay Never, he could show plenty now and may stretch out in trip later in the season.
Prince Kameo for Sir Mark Prescott (Luke Morris aboard) finished fourth on debut at Lingfield and should improve, while Boysofwallstreet and Bassrah are also runners to note.
4.20 Ffos Las – Hell Hound and Loki’s Mischief clash in novices’ handicap chase
This Francky Du Berlais Novices’ Handicap Chase brings together recent winners Hell Hound and Loki’s Mischief in what looks a testing renewal.
Hell Hound, who was pulled up on his chasing debut, bounced back with a decisive success at Southwell last month and could progress further over fences.
Loki’s Mischief, successful at the second attempt over fences at Ffos Las just fifteen days ago, rises six pounds but must be respected after overcoming a significant error to see off his rivals.
Jack Jury, trained by Barry Murphy, is about four lengths behind Loki’s Mischief on form and has dropped another pound in the weights, keeping him in the calculations. Axel Bleue completes the principal quartet of contenders.
5.35 Yarmouth – Havana Lightning and Havana Sprite among fillies’ novices
The British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes features eleven runners and should produce useful clues for the season ahead.
Havana Lightning, trained by George Boughey, was favourite on debut at Newmarket but only managed fifth; she could be sharper for that outing and is taken to improve with Billy Loughnane in the plate.
Havana Sprite, for James Tate and Hector Crouch, shaped well on her first start at Newmarket when fourth and clear of the rest; a cleaner break could put her firmly in the picture.
Persian Sunset will hope to build on a third at Beverley, while Havana Grey Star and Sable Island showed promise on debut and are worth monitoring in the market.
Best of the rest
– Happy Valley: Zac Purton rides seven mounts and sits on 1,994 Hong Kong winners.
– 4.50 Ffos Las: Bridget Mary is expected to be popular for the Curtis yard.
– 3.20 Ffos Las: Fiskardo is the pick for Mickey Bowen.
– 7.10 Yarmouth: Betelgeuse is among a small six-runner field.
Keep an eye on the market for further clues across both meetings, with plenty of juvenile and novice form likely to shape plans for the summer and beyond.
