Sky Sports Racing brings a full Thursday card with live coverage from Chepstow and Southwell. Here’s a guide to the key races and runners to note.
2.30 Chepstow — Hurricane Pat heads the novice hurdle
Hurricane Pat (rated 142) is the standout in the LSL Racing Horse Sales – Syndication – Leasing Novices’ Hurdle. Trained by Gary and Josh Moore, he has taken to hurdles quickly, winning his first two starts and then finishing behind Old Park Star in a Listed contest at Haydock. He was competitive when stepped up in trip for the Turners’ Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham and should welcome the drop back in grade.
Cosmic Connection is the main danger for Chris and Freddie Gordon. A former point-to-point winner who impressed on his hurdles debut at Warwick last month, he can improve and may stay further in time. Are You Joking and Both Of Us offer each-way appeal.
3.32 Chepstow — Blow Your Wad fancied for Moore yard
The feature Russell Property Consultants Handicap Chase has Blow Your Wad rated as the one to beat. The Gary and Josh Moore inmate, now eight, has run well in three starts for the yard this season and finished a staying-on fourth in the Ultima Handicap Chase at Cheltenham last month. A four-pound rise is a concern but he looks the stable’s principal hope.
Olivers Travels, who enjoyed a productive summer before falling at Ascot in November, has had time to recover and could be in the mix for places under James Bowen. Soldierofthestorm, who won on his second start over fences at Sandown, appears to have room for improvement, and course-and-distance winner Jaipaletemps will try to overcome a career-high mark.
5.10 Southwell — Well-bred newcomer Zeriya catches the eye
Zeriya makes an eye-catching debut in the BetMGM Supports Safer Gambling Maiden Fillies’ Stakes. Trained by Andrew Balding and by Too Darn Hot, she cost 480,000 guineas at Tattersalls Book One in October 2024 and shapes as an exciting mile prospect with Shane Foley booked.
Vitality, a half-sister to six winners including Persuasion, is one to watch on debut for Charlie Johnston and Jason Hart. Romance Spirit is a newcomer for Marco Botti, while Hot Silk, who finished sixth on her only start at Yarmouth in October, could improve for Daniel Muscutt.
