Monday brings a busy all-weather card from Lingfield and Newcastle, live on Sky Sports Racing.
5.25 Lingfield – Download The At The Races App Handicap (1m 2f)
A ten-runner finale sees Charlie Clover’s Harlington bid for a fourth successive win off a career-high mark. Second on stable debut in January, he has landed his last three starts, including over today’s course and distance, and Tom Marquand takes the ride for the first time. Neil King’s Victors Spirit, who scored his first career success nine days ago in a race where a first-time hood was used, drops back to his shortest trip and looks the chief threat. Roger Teal’s The Hare Rail arrives on a career-low mark seeking a breakthrough, while Golden Circet—fresh from a wind operation—for Jim and Suzi Best is worth noting. Also to watch are Double Red (Henry Candy) and Perfect Scoundrel, who teams up with Kieran Shoemark.
6.00 Newcastle – Download The At The Races App Handicap
A compact field of six go to post as Sir Mark Prescott saddles Analogical. The four-year-old has been narrowly beaten in his last two starts, losing by a nose and a short head, and drops back in trip aiming for a third career win. David O’Meara’s Mao Shang Won was denied a hat-trick 17 days ago after victories at Newcastle and Doncaster, with Daniel Tudhope back in the saddle. Clansman, a previous course-and-distance winner, has been consistent since a 208-day break and drops back in trip targeting an eighth career win. Moon Sniper was unlucky at Southwell two starts ago and could be nicely weighted on stable debut for Jessica Bedi. Patrol (Dylan Cunha) and Roger Henry (Lizzie Quinlan) complete the line-up.
3.21 Lingfield – Joan Butcher 90th Birthday Fillies’ Handicap (1m 4f)
Seven runners contest this fillies’ handicap, with Sea Of Charm looking to return to winning ways for Georgina Nicholls. She’s won three of her last five and William Cox is back in the plate—he has partnered her to three of her seven career victories. Tom Clover’s Rose Cotton, successful on her seasonal and handicap debut at Wolverhampton in January, was below expectations last month and steps up in trip today. Richard Hannon’s Schemaya and recent winner Twilight Moon add further interest in a compact renewal.
