A busy Friday of racing comes live on Sky Sports Racing with action from Fontwell, Lingfield and Newcastle. Here are the main races and horses to watch.
7.00 Newcastle — Power Fizz, Wicket Keeper and Rousing Encore feature
The highlight of the evening card is the SBK: Betting Without The Bull Handicap. William Haggas’s Power Fizz arrives with solid form from last year, landing three wins and finishing a respectable fourth as favourite at Goodwood in May. He has been off since then and has been gelded, so the market will be instructive about his current level.
Wicket Keeper, a dual winner for Ed Bethell, has switched to the Anthony Brittain yard and looks a live contender after finishing a neck behind Super Saiyan on his most recent start; he carries a 2 lb penalty. Rousing Encore, Twilight Calls and Hockney are also in the mix in what looks an open contest.
4.30 Fontwell — Mon Champion and Alien Storm go head-to-head
The betstgeorge.com With Daily St George Specials Chase Series Final shapes up as a match between Mon Champion and the in-form Alien Storm. Alien Storm has taken well to fences, is bidding for a hat-trick after wins at Plumpton and Doncaster and comes here 3 lb higher in the weights.
Paul Nicholls’s Mon Champion bounced back from a below-par run to score over this course and distance with something in hand and deserves respect with Freddie Gingell on board. Rip Wheeler, trained by the Moores, completes the short-list.
3.12 Lingfield — Sergeant Pep and Metallo among a field of 10
A competitive Daily Profit Boosts At betmgm.co.uk Handicap features Sergeant Pep and Metallo. Clive Cox’s Sergeant Pep has been running creditably without winning since October 2024 and returns to seven furlongs under Hector Crouch off a workable mark.
Metallo was an eye-catching runner-up over 1m2 here in February and can be forgiven a heavy defeat at Wolverhampton seven days ago; he reappears with Luke Morris booked. Richard Hannon’s One More is an intriguing contender after a winter campaign in Meydan handicaps, while Brunel Nation also merits consideration.
Best of the rest
7.30 Newcastle — A fair Class Four where Flying Fletcher, Saytarr and Sir Paul Ramsey catch the eye.
8.00 Newcastle — Another strong race with City Captain among a 12-strong field.
4.12 Lingfield — Hollie Doyle takes the ride on Menwirr, a horse related to Elnajmm.
Fontwell — Jonjo and Harry Skelton have a couple of noticeable chances on the card.
12.42 Bordeaux — Seeway and Pierchic top the bill in a decent international contest.
Tune into Sky Sports Racing for live coverage and market updates as the day unfolds.
