Wessel Nijman extended a sensational 2026 run by claiming his fourth Players Championship title and fifth PDC ranking victory overall at Players Championship 12 in Milton Keynes.
Nijman, who also lifted the European Darts Trophy in March, defeated fellow Dutchman Jermaine Wattimena 8-5 in an all-Dutch final. The win adds to Nijman’s victories at PC2, PC8 and PC10 earlier this year.
Beau Greaves — who made history by winning PC11 to become the first woman to take a PDC ranking title — was knocked out in the last 16. Tom Bissell whitewashed Greaves 6-0, then beat Max Hopp 6-3 in the quarter-finals before losing 7-4 to Nijman in the semi-finals.
Wattimena began the final strongly, opening a 4-2 lead with some sharp combination finishing as he chased his first ranking title since October. Nijman then reeled off six of the next seven legs to close out an impressive 8-5 victory.
“It was kind of a nervy final. I went behind after missing some doubles,” Nijman said after breaking into the world top 16 for the first time. “I’m so happy I kept it together. There were some finishes I hit with the last dart, the 57 to go 6-5 up was important. When it clicks together and you play those finals, and you’ve been playing those games all day long, the next time you come, you remember that.”
