Leah Williamson has signed a new contract to remain at Arsenal Women. The 29-year-old centre-back has battled injury this season after suffering a knee issue at Euro 2025, which kept her out for the first half of the campaign. She has made 10 appearances in all competitions so far as she works her way back to full fitness.
Williamson returned to play her first full 90 minutes in the Women’s Super League in January. She started in Arsenal’s 2-1 Champions League semi-final first-leg win over Lyon and later came off the bench to score in the 7-0 victory over Leicester. Since joining Arsenal’s setup around two decades ago and progressing into the senior side, she has amassed 282 appearances and scored 17 goals, and now serves as vice-captain.
A key presence during a successful period for both club and country, Williamson lifted the Champions League trophy alongside captain Kim Little last season. Her honours with Arsenal include a Women’s Super League title, four League Cups, two FA Cups and a FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, earned across 12 years in the first team.
On the international stage she has been influential for the Lionesses, helping lead England to back-to-back European Championship triumphs in 2022 and 2025. Williamson has 67 caps for her country and has scored five times.
Arsenal have been active in securing their core squad: defender Steph Catley’s contract was extended on Tuesday, striker Stina Blackstenius renewed her deal last week, and Kim Little has signed for an additional year.
