Undisputed super-lightweight champion Katie Taylor looks set to end her stellar career against unbeaten French contender Flora Pili.
Taylor, 39, currently holds the IBF, WBA and WBO 140lb titles and is due to announce her farewell fight on Friday. Dublin’s Croke Park is widely expected to be the venue.
The WBC appears to have confirmed 28-year-old Pili as Taylor’s opponent. Pili, 12-0, is the IBF mandatory challenger and the top-ranked contender for the WBC belt, which is currently vacant.
Champion Sandy Ryan has been made WBC ‘Champion in Recess’ after announcing her pregnancy; the WBC has ordered a fight involving Taylor and Pili as part of its title process. Taylor was previously WBC champion but vacated that belt in 2025 when she took a break from boxing.
A win would give Taylor the chance to unify all the belts in her final fight and become an undisputed champion for the third time in her career.
The exact date and venue are not yet confirmed, but there is strong momentum behind staging the bout at Croke Park, which would provide an enormous platform for Taylor’s farewell in front of a home crowd.
Promoter Eddie Hearn said there is significant support from government, Croke Park and the Irish public to make the event happen. He described the image of Taylor walking out to an 80,000-strong crowd as a once-in-a-lifetime sporting moment and said he is determined to overcome any obstacles to stage the fight.
Further details, including the official announcement and ticket information, are expected when the fight is formally revealed on Friday.
