There is strong racing coverage on both sides of the English Channel on Tuesday as Sky Sports Racing turns its cameras to Chantilly, Yarmouth, Southwell and Lingfield.
2.05 Chantilly — Dolmalan and Montreal in the Listed Prix de Suresnes
The feature of the day is the Listed Prix de Suresnes at Chantilly, where a five-strong field includes two interesting Classic prospects in Montreal and Dolmalan. Last year s edition produced several useful performers: winner Nitoi went on to the Prix du Jockey Club, as did second-placed Leffard, while fourth-placed Azimpour also contested the French Derby. Third-placed New Ground ran in the Epsom Derby and Juwelier, fifth, later finished second in the Saratoga Derby.
Dolmalan runs for the Aga Khan Studs and is an unbeaten juvenile, two wins from two, arriving here off a recent success at Chantilly. From the Aidan O Brien stable, Montreal is an intriguing contender and is being considered for the Classics; he is quoted at 16/1 for the Betfred Derby. Martagny, owned by the same connections as Leffard, brings the most experience to the race with two wins on his record.
4.28 Yarmouth — Lady Mariko tries to overcome a 6 lb rise
Lady Mariko bids to follow up after a convincing Kempton victory, ridden on that occasion by James Doyle. That success was her third career win and her first since July; she raced prominently and drew clear to win eased down. The handicapper has raised her rating from 74 to 80, so she faces a tougher task today. The rest of the field have been largely out of form, but Bridget s View, rated 86, has solid claims based on a December success when she beat Stateira, who subsequently lifted the Fillies and Mares Championship at Newcastle.
5.50 Lingfield — Eternal Solace among eleven runners
The 5.50 at Lingfield features Eternal Solace in an 11-runner handicap. A daughter of Tasleet, she remains relatively unexposed with eight starts and two wins, one at Brighton and one over today s course and distance in October. She arrives in good shape after finishing second in the All-Weather 3-Year-Old Championships at Newcastle earlier in the month. Bone Marra carries an extra 5 lb after his Wolverhampton victory in November; a winter campaign may have aided his development and he looks dangerous. Comprador, a full-sibling to Flying Childers winner Trillium, is a three-race maiden making his handicap debut and is worth watching.
