Steph Curry matched Michael Jordan’s mark for most 40-point games since turning 30, extending a red-hot stretch for the Golden State Warriors star. Curry poured in 49 points in a 109-108 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, coming two days after a 46-point performance in a 125-120 victory over the same opponent.
The back-to-back 40-plus outings pushed Curry level with Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan at 44 games of 40 points or more since age 30. The 37-year-old also joined Jordan and LeBron James as the only players aged 37 or older to score 40-plus points in consecutive games.
After Friday’s game Curry reflected on the milestone: “When I got over that number, it was pretty cool. Just from an individual accomplishment perspective to be in that type of company. Longevity is something I pride myself on.”
In the 109-108 win he shot 16-of-26 from the field and 9-of-17 from three-point range — his highest-scoring outing of the season. Curry is 66-for-70 from the free-throw line this year and is on pace to lead the league in free-throw percentage for the sixth time in his career.
