Bromley’s push for promotion to League One was put on hold as Cambridge United left Hayes Lane with a 0-0 draw.
Cambridge threatened early on. Inside 15 minutes Ben Knight raced through but shot wide of Grant Smith’s goal, and Dominic Ball fired narrowly off target from Liam Bennett’s cut‑back.
Bromley’s first clear opening arrived just after the 25th minute when Omar Sownunmi headed over with Jack Walton beaten. On the half hour Shayne Lavery met Adam Mayor’s cross but could only hit the bar.
The second half began at a more measured pace, but Knight’s angled drive forced an excellent save from Smith and sparked a period of pressure from the hosts. Ben Thompson saw a close‑range effort denied by Walton, and Jude Arthurs’ follow‑up was deflected over the bar.
With around 10 minutes left, Smith produced another fine stop to tip Kelland Watts’ header over the crossbar. A frantic finale featured a late goalmouth scramble, but neither side could break the deadlock.
After the match Bromley manager Andy Woodman remained positive despite celebrations being delayed by the stalemate.
