Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn both hit the scales under the 160lb middleweight limit ahead of their rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend. The scheduled non-title fight will take place at middleweight, with Benn weighing in at 159.3lbs and Eubank Jr at 159.1lbs.
Benn, moving up from welterweight into Eubank’s division, came in nearly three pounds heavier than before their first meeting, suggesting he has added more natural mass for this fight. Eubank, who had prior trouble making weight ahead of the April contest, had no issues at this official weigh-in.
Both fighters must undergo a second weight check on fight morning. Their contract includes a rehydration clause: neither boxer can exceed 10lbs above the 160lb limit on Saturday morning, effectively setting a 170lb fight-day cap.
Benn said he believes Eubank’s extra size helped in the first fight but insisted he retains advantages in speed, reaction time and punching power, and that improved discipline will change the outcome this time. He acknowledged that his mindset and lack of discipline contributed to the earlier loss and vowed to correct that.
Eubank, who was hospitalised with severe dehydration after the first bout, accepted the 170lb fight-day limit for the rematch. He criticised what he described as underhanded tactics in the sport but framed it as part of boxing’s harsh reality, saying fighters must be prepared for aggressive behaviour in a blood sport. Eubank also reiterated his personal standards around honesty, hard work and integrity as an athlete.
With both men safely under the official limit, attention now turns to the rehydration checks and the fight itself this weekend.
