Sky Sports Racing serves up a busy Wednesday with live action from Yarmouth, Newton Abbot and Bath.
Yarmouth 2.40 — Sky Sports Racing 415 Handicap (minimum trip)
A 13-strong field line up for the sprint at Yarmouth, headlined by William Haggas’s Kinswoman, who teams up with Cieren Fallon. The daughter of Mehmas enjoyed a very consistent 2025, registering three wins and several placings, and she remains on the radar for a possible King Charles III Stakes entry at Royal Ascot — she’ll need to run well here to keep that option alive.
Robert Cowell’s Almaty Star arrives in good order after a positive return to turf last month following a winter spent placing on the all-weather; he bids to remain unbeaten over this course and distance. Also of interest is Grandlad, who returned from a 132-day break to make all at Nottingham last month, narrowly holding off today’s rival Nogo’s Dream — both are ones to watch. Other runners to note include Alondra, Rocking Ends and Naana’s Sparkle.
(Recent big-race headlines elsewhere: Diamond Necklace impressed in the French 1000 Guineas, while Maltese Cross secured a Derby entry with a victory at Lingfield.)
Yarmouth later features a 3.18 maiden fillies’ event where high-profile €1m purchase Silent Beauty (by Night Of Thunder, out of Group 1 winner No Speak Alexander) will make her debut. Creative Queen and Butterfly Beach are the names to follow in the Get Raceday Ready Fillies’ Novice Stakes for Qatar and Wathnan Racing.
Newton Abbot 6.30 — Racing Welfare Supporting Mental Health Awareness Handicap Chase (2m 5f)
Four go to post at Newton Abbot where Jamie Snowden’s in-form Move With The Beat attempts a hat-trick. The seven-year-old posted a comfortable Ludlow success in January after a sluggish start for the yard, then — following a lesser run at Taunton — has strung together two victories over a slightly shorter trip and now steps up to two miles and five furlongs.
Joe Tizzard’s Siam Park was a promising type last season but hasn’t hit the same heights recently; connections will hope the increase in trip revives his old form. Paul Nicholls runs Inca De Lafayette, who closed last season with a commanding 22-length win at Plumpton under Jay Tidball; Freddie Keighley takes the ride here. Anyharminasking for Jonjo and A J O’Neill makes up the quartet, returning off a long winless spell but running in blinkers for the first time.
Bath 7.12 — Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap (extended 11f)
A small field of six tackle the extended 11-furlong handicap at Bath. Tony Carroll’s Moon Over The Sea bids to defy a penalty as he chases a hat-trick after landing back-to-back turf wins over course and distance, the most recent coming last week.
Virtual Hug, trained by Nikki Evans and ridden by Hollie Doyle, also arrives in good form following a course-and-distance success nine days ago and carries a 4lb penalty in pursuit of a seventh career victory. Joe Ponting’s Endofastorm has finished runner-up on his last two starts and has Millie Wonnacott booked. Knightmare, Lady Aiyana and Seamus Mullins’s Basilette complete the line-up.
Summary
Kinswoman and Almaty Star head the big sprint attraction at Yarmouth, with several other notable contenders across the three meetings. Keep an eye on Moon Over The Sea at Bath for a bold bid despite a penalty, and Move With The Beat at Newton Abbot as he seeks a third straight win.
