Sky Sports Racing brings a full Thursday card from Chepstow and Southwell, with several competitive contests to watch.
3.37 Southwell — Always Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Maiden Stakes
Crest Of Fire and Powder Monkey head a strong maiden field. Crest Of Fire remains seeking his first success after five starts but showed promise when runner-up off a mark of 83 on his handicap debut at Doncaster; now gelded and dropped back into maiden company he looks a major player. George Boughey’s Powder Monkey was short of pace when second on debut over seven furlongs at Wolverhampton and should benefit from stepping up to a mile. Regulus Black and King Of Berkshire offer each-way possibilities.
3.50 Chepstow — River Voyage looks to extend winning run
River Voyage, a point-to-point winner, followed up with a determined staying chase victory at Ffos Las last month and should appreciate a further step up in trip. Gold Emery ran well to finish second to Planned Paradise at Bangor and will be dangerous off the same mark. Lightonthewing, narrowly beaten over hurdles last time, added a seventh success over larger obstacles at Exeter twenty days ago and, despite a five-pound rise, will be popular trying to follow up. To Be Sure and Amateur complete the shortlist.
4.37 Southwell — Numero Vingt and Hvar clash in a classy handicap
Numero Vingt and Hvar renew rivals in the Read Meg Nicholls’ Blog At betmgm.co.uk Handicap. Archie Watson’s Numero Vingt has shown plenty of heart, narrowly prevailing on both starts since being gelded; his Lingfield runner-up has added depth to the form and he heads into handicap company with Hollie Doyle booked. Hvar, a Wolverhampton novice winner on his third start last season, has been transferred to John and Sean Quinn and is an intriguing contender. Riley Rocks, successful at Newcastle in January, and recent Wolverhampton maiden winner Wyle Cop are also to be respected.
Best of the rest
2.37 Southwell — Appier and St Faz lead a decent contest, with St Faz bidding for a hat-trick.
5.20 Chepstow — A lively bumper features Stick To The Board, Trigg and Lord Du Gouet.
2.40 Chantilly — Another interesting maiden to follow.
