It’s all about Wolverhampton today, with all nine races LIVE on Sky Sports Racing from 4.28pm.
4.28 Wolverhampton – Juddmonte’s Sintra seeks first win
Andrew Balding’s Sintra will face six rivals in the opening Daily Profit Boosts At betmgm.co.uk Novice Stakes over the extended mile. The son of Kingman is a half-brother to Listed winner Windlord and comes here seeking a first success after finishing third on debut last month. The jockey booking of Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey Colin Keane is a notable one, with the six-time Irish champion coming here for just his fourth ever ride at Dunstall Park.
Richard Hughes’ three-year-old Nobody Knows was a €320,000 Breeze-up purchase and justified favouritism on debut at Ayr in September, scoring by two lengths. The son of Wootton Bassett has entries in both the Irish 2,000 Guineas and Irish Derby so may be one to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
Derby-winning jockey Adam Kirby saddles his third ever runner as a trainer here with My Mate Mackley, who finished last of eight on his sole two-year-old appearance at the back end of last year. He will be looking to provide Kirby with his second winner since his transition to training.
- Fifth time lucky for Home By The Lee in shock Stayers’ Hurdle success
- Il Etait Temps dazzles in Queen Mother Champion Chase
Of the newcomers, Mick The Hat could be the most interesting for Ralph Beckett, given he was purchased for 105,000gns as a yearling.
6.00 Wolverhampton – Bomb Squad and Ramon Di Loria lock horns again
A field of eleven will contest the Always Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Handicap over seven furlongs at Wolverhampton on Tuesday and the consistent Bomb Squad will be looking for a third win from his last four starts here for John Mackie. If the eight-year-old is to land successive course and distance wins then he will have to defy a 4lb penalty for his win four days ago.
Ramon Di Loria was only half a length behind Bomb Squad four days ago and is 4lb better off today due to Bomb Squad’s penalty. Ewan Whillans will be hoping for another bold showing from his gelding, who has finished in the top three in six of his last seven runs.
John O’Shea’s Punchbowl Flyer has been running to a fair level of form of late without getting his head in front, notably when finishing a runner-up to winning machine Beauzon two starts back. He is coming here looking for a first win since August.
Course and distance winners Landlordtothestars and Von Krolock are others to note, whilst Amelia’s Joy is an intriguing contender in first-time cheekpieces for Michael Herrington.
7.30 Wolverhampton – In-form Alasrae bids to complete the hat-trick
A field of ten have assembled for the Bet £10 Get £40 With BetMGM Handicap over the minimum trip, with Alasrae on the hat-trick hunt for Billy Loughnane and George Boughey. After failing to win in seven starts as a two-year-old, the son of Havana Grey went down by just a neck on his first run of the year and improved on that performance to record a first win next time out. He followed that up with a nose success at Kempton 13 days ago and drops back to the five-furlong trip here in pursuit of the hat-trick.
The £350,000 breeze-up purchase Fortification is an intriguing runner for Archie Watson, who will be hoping first-time blinkers will help bring out enough improvement in his three-year-old to record a second career success.
The James Tate-trained pair of Daneh Of Dandy and Dark Angel Star are others to note with the former having her first start on the all-weather, while course and distance winner Henrythenate and Brian Ellison’s Temple Of Athena are others to keep an eye on in this field of ten.
