Two weeks have passed since the last round, but the Formula 1 action shows no signs of slowing as the drivers prepare for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.
Media day began with the celebration of Kimi Antonelli’s maiden win in Shanghai. Despite a Sprint collision and a slow start to the Grand Prix, the 19-year-old steadied himself and built an unassailable lead to take victory.
With just four points separating Antonelli from his Mercedes team mate George Russell, the young driver is already in early title contention. Whether Antonelli — and the team — are ready for a full-season fight remains to be seen.
Ferrari are currently Mercedes’ main challengers, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc showing they can race ruthlessly, particularly against each other. The big question is whether they can halt Mercedes’ dominance.
Off-track, Jonathan Wheatley has left Audi with immediate effect. Honda are focused on performing at their home race alongside Aston Martin, and several teams will run eye-catching special liveries this weekend.
To discuss these talking points and more, join Ariana Bravo, Lawrence Barretto and Alex Brundle on the F1 TV preview ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.
