Tom Johnstone scored two second-half tries as Wakefield Trinity came from behind to beat York Knights 26-14 at the LNER Community Stadium.
York opened the scoring when Sam Wood crossed in the 15th minute, sparking a flurry of four first-half tries. The lead changed hands twice more before the break, with Ben Jones-Bishop and Caleb Hamlin-Uele exchanging touchdowns and Oliver Pratt touching down for the first of his two tries. With Max Jowitt converting twice, Trinity led 12-10 at half-time.
Wakefield took control after the interval. Johnstone crossed twice in a 17-minute spell, with a Nikau Williams try sandwiched between his scores, and Pratt added a late finish to seal the victory. The win was Wakefield’s fourth in six Super League matches and their third straight, moving them up to third in the table.
The result came on the same day Wakefield announced the signing of former NRL star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck on a two-year deal. York, meanwhile, sit fourth from bottom with two wins from six outings and will be disappointed by their late fade.
