We have a busy day’s racing on Thursday with action from Chepstow and Southwell, live on Sky Sports Racing.
2.30 Chepstow – 142-rated Hurricane Pat headlines
Hurricane Pat is the class act among a field of 12 for the LSL Racing Horse Sales – Syndication – Leasing Novices’ Hurdle. Gary and Josh Moore’s charge has taken well to hurdling, winning his first two starts before chasing home Old Park Star in a Listed contest at Haydock. He was far from disgraced when stepped up in trip for the Turners’ Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and should relish the drop in grade.
Cosmic Connection looks the chief danger for Chris and Freddie Gordon. A point-to-point winner who scored at the first time of asking over hurdles at Warwick last month, he can improve and may stay further in time. Are You Joking and Both Of Us have each-way chances.
5.10 Southwell – Well-bred newcomer Zeriya catches the eye
The well-bred Zeriya makes her debut in the BetMGM Supports Safer Gambling Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Southwell. The Andrew Balding-trained daughter of Too Darn Hot cost 480,000 guineas at Tattersalls Book One in October 2024 and rates an exciting prospect as she starts her career over a mile with Shane Foley a notable booking.
Vitality is a half-sister to six winners including Persuasion and is worth a market watch on debut for Charlie Johnston and Jason Hart. Romance Spirit gets a mention on her debut for Marco Botti, while Hot Silk made a satisfactory start when sixth at Yarmouth in October and may progress for Daniel Muscutt.
3.32 Chepstow – Blow Your Wad fancied for Moore team
The feature on a quality Chepstow card sees Blow Your Wad head a field of eight for the Russell Property Consultants Handicap Chase. Gary and Josh Moore’s eight-year-old has run with credit on all three starts for the yard this season and kept on well when fourth in the Ultima Handicap Chase at Cheltenham last month, making him the one to beat despite a four-pound rise.
Olivers Travels enjoyed a successful summer with a couple of wins but ended the year with a fall at Ascot in November. Given plenty of time to recover, he could have place claims if wound up under James Bowen. Others to consider include Soldierofthestorm, who scored on his second start over fences at Sandown and has scope for improvement, while course-and-distance winner Jaipaletemps bids to defy a career-high mark.
Best of the rest
5.15 Chepstow – Paul Nicholls’ Order On Time appeals in this decent bumper.
5.48 Southwell – Class Four with Hundred Caps and Way To Dubai involved.
10.42 Chantilly – Dolmalan could be useful for the Aga Khan and Delzangles.
11.17 Chantilly – Lord Clover is worth a watch for Francis-Henri Graffard and Christophe Soumillon; Wootton Centurion another to note.
2.40 Auteuil – Grade Three where eight head to post.
4.25 Auteuil – Fair Listed race.
