York will make their Super League debut against reigning champions Hull KR on the opening night of the 2026 season, live on Sky Sports. That fixture (Thursday February 12, 8pm) is followed by a Friday night blockbuster between Warrington and St Helens (February 13, 8pm), also live on Sky Sports.
The top flight has expanded to 14 clubs after this summer’s IMG gradings and panel decisions, with Bradford Bulls promoted alongside Toulouse Olympique and York Knights. York enjoyed a remarkable 2025 season under Mark Applegarth — 20 wins in a row at one point, 1895 Cup winners and second-tier league leaders — and will play in the Super League for the first time in the modern era (last in the elite in 1986).
Hull KR enter 2026 as Betfred Super League champions, having completed a historic treble in 2025 by beating Wigan Warriors 24-6 in the Grand Final and adding the Challenge Cup and League Leaders’ Shield.
