We have a busy day’s racing on Saturday with live coverage from Newton Abbot and Wolverhampton on Sky Sports Racing.
3.49 Newton Abbot – In-form Calimystic, Kap Ouest and Bumpy Evans clash
In-form Calimystic and Kap Ouest go head-to-head in the Happy 45th Birthday Andy Hurtley Handicap Chase. Nicky Henderson’s Calimystic is two-from-two over the larger obstacles after a cosy Sandown success last month and tackles this off a 6lb penalty. Kap Ouest arrives in good heart after a nice Exeter win and looks capable of further improvement in this sphere. Best of the rest appears to be Wincanton scorer Nickelforce and Bumpy Evans, who is five-from-eight over fences and drops in class.
4.20 Newton Abbot – Call Me Legend and Crossgales King feature
Call Me Legend and Crossgales King lock horns in the South West Rail Solutions Ltd. Handicap Hurdle. Topweight Call Me Legend, trained by the Hobbs and White team, was narrowly denied by a stablemate at Exeter and has cheekpieces added to eke out more improvement. Crossgales King, beaten a length by Call Me Legend on his penultimate run, landed a first hurdlers’ success at Wincanton on his latest start and should be in the mix again. Top Guy and Walk Tall complete the shortlist.
7.30 Wolverhampton – Hat-trick seeking Codiak headlines
The evening highlight at Dunstall Park sees Codiak bid for another win in the Thank You To Omari For The Support Handicap. Ed Bethell’s four-year-old impressed at Southwell, coming from an unfavourable position to win nicely, and is the one to beat under Callum Rodriguez as he seeks a hat-trick. Pride Of Donegal doubled his tally with a course-and-distance handicap and must be feared if in similar form. James Fanshawe’s Charmaine is weighted to go close if fit enough on her return after a 195-day break.
Best of the rest
