3.15 Lingfield – Scorpio Rising makes handicap debut
Scorpio Rising steps into handicap company for the first time for Sean Bowen and Olly Murphy in the Download The At The Races App Handicap Hurdle at Lingfield. The lightly-raced five-year-old registered his first success in a maiden hurdle at Perth last time and arrives as an intriguing handicap newcomer. Ski Lodge, another handicap debutant, reappears after a break since December and showed enough when opening his hurdles account at the second attempt to command respect if improving. Bluegrass is inconsistent for Stuart Edmunds but would be competitive if reproducing his penultimate effort.
11.35 Chantilly – Al Zanati leads a small field
Al Zanati tops a field of six for the Group Three Prix Thomas Bryon, the day’s feature at Chantilly. Charlie Appleby runs a pair in Al Zanati and Pacifica Pier. Al Zanati brings the strongest form, having produced a notable effort in the Autumn Stakes on his second start, and could join a distinguished roll of honour that includes recent winners such as Maranoa Charlie, Alcantor and Continuous. Bourbon Blues for Brian Meehan is lightly successful to date, while Space Waltz looks the pick of the home contenders after finishing second in a Listed race here last month.
4.15 Newcastle – The Tunguska Event bids to follow up
The Tunguska Event, a course-and-distance winner, attempts to cope with a nine-pound rise in the Use Safer Gambling Tools At BetMGM Nursery Selling Handicap at Newcastle. Trained by John and Sean Quinn, he led throughout when winning eased down last time and may still have more to offer under his new mark. Mister Moet is the only other winner in the line-up, having scored at Carlisle on his third start; a move to Scott Dixon’s yard could revitalise him.

5.15 Newcastle – An open-looking Class Three where Unassuming aims to follow up his Wolves victory but must contend with four course scorers, including popular sprinter King’s Lynn.
