Leeds Rhinos ran riot in Las Vegas as Maika Sivo scored four tries in a 56-8 demolition of Hull KR at Allegiant Stadium.
A crowd of 35,500 watched a dominant Rhinos performance, with Leeds 28-0 up at half-time after converted tries from Brodie Croft, Keenan Palasia and Ryan Hall, plus two early scores from Sivo. Jake Connor controlled the game, slotting four from five conversions and producing a crucial 40/20 to set up Croft’s first-half try.
Sivo, who had already impressed on his Leeds debut, barged over in the 11th and 16th minutes to put the Rhinos in charge. Croft followed seven minutes later after Connor’s territorial play, and Palasia extended the lead when he powered past Tyrone May to score. Sivo then made a big break from a short drop-out, helping create the try that sent Ryan Hall in under the posts to make it 28-0 at the break. Hull KR had a potential score by Jez Litten ruled out for obstruction.
Leeds continued to dominate after the restart. Croft grabbed his second on 51 minutes before Tom Davies’ knock-on led to Sivo’s third, converted by Connor to make it 40-0. Joe Burgess eventually got Hull KR on the board with a consolation try, but Sivo was not finished — he completed his haul with a fourth score as Leeds stretched the margin to 46-6. Cooper Jenkins added a brace late on, with Chris Hankinson converting, to finish the scoring.
Hull KR, newly crowned World Club champions after beating Brisbane Broncos, were well below par and still seek their first Super League win after two rounds. Errors and poor defensive reads cost them throughout the match.
Sivo was named player of the match and reflected: “We focused throughout the week to come here to make a statement and we did it. The boys, every single one of us did our job, so it is good. I always said it’s our job as a winger to finish those opportunities so I did that. Brad (Arthur) has been strict with me at the same time. He has been like a father figure to me so it is good to have those kind of people in your corner to support you in your highs and your lows. We are going to take it week by week and hopefully keep getting the wins and keep celebrating.”
