Scott Parker has left his role as Burnley head coach with immediate effect following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
The 45-year-old had been in discussions with the club after relegation to the Championship was confirmed and both parties agreed it was best to part ways. Burnley thanked Parker for his professionalism, dedication and contribution and said he leaves with the club’s respect and gratitude. The club has begun the process of appointing a new permanent head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Mike Jackson, supported by the current backroom staff, will take charge on an interim basis for Burnley’s final four fixtures of the campaign, starting with Friday’s trip to Leeds (kick-off 8pm, live on Sky Sports).
Parker was appointed in the summer of 2024, succeeding Vincent Kompany after Burnley’s relegation. He led the team back to the Premier League in his first season, overseeing an unbeaten run of 31 matches and recording 30 clean sheets during that successful promotion campaign. However, Burnley have struggled since their return, winning just four league matches this season and seeing relegation confirmed with four games remaining after a home defeat by Manchester City.
Parker paid tribute to the club after his departure, saying it had been an immense privilege to lead Burnley over the past two years. He expressed pride in the promotion season of 2024/25, thanked the ownership, staff and players for their support and effort, and sent his best wishes to the fans and the club’s future.
The club said it has not yet held discussions with potential candidates to replace Parker.
