Hearts head coach Derek McInnes has rejected suggestions his side are suffering from “anxiety” in the title race and dismissed claims of a wider discipline problem after another red card in their defeat at St Mirren.
Speaking after the match, McInnes said talk of nervousness was misplaced and insisted the squad remained competitive and focused. He described the sending-off as an isolated incident rather than evidence of a systemic issue, and stressed that he would deal with any disciplinary matters internally.
McInnes also emphasised that the team must respond to setbacks on the pitch and that one result would not derail their campaign. He pointed to the work being done in training and the character within the dressing room as reasons to stay confident.
The manager said he would review the red card incident but urged attention to the bigger picture of performance over the season rather than headlines about mentality or discipline.
