Chelsea extended their Women’s Super League record unbeaten run to 34 matches but dropped points as they were held 1-1 by bottom side Liverpool. The Blues have not lost in the league since defeat to Liverpool in May 2024 under Emma Hayes, and their latest result leaves them three points behind leaders Manchester City.
Alyssa Thompson opened the scoring in the ninth minute, cutting inside from the left and curling into the top-right corner. Liverpool responded under Gareth Taylor, and in the 33rd minute Lily Woodham played in Beata Olsson, who outpaced captain Millie Bright and dribbled from near the halfway line before slotting home.
Millie Bright marked her 211th WSL appearance, becoming the competition’s record appearance holder. Despite the draw, Liverpool move to the foot of the table but earned a valuable point.
Sonia Bompastor introduced attacking options in the second half, bringing on Aggie Beever-Jones and Lauren James — James making her first WSL appearance since March. Beever-Jones had a goal ruled out for offside after rounding goalkeeper Faye Kirby and later saw an effort curl just wide, but Liverpool held on for the 1-1 finish.
