Lauren Coughlin completed a dominant five-shot victory at the Aramco Championship, finishing on seven under at Shadow Creek as Nelly Korda and Leona Maguire shared second on two under. The 33-year-old American produced a level-par final round to secure her first win in two years, her third LPGA Tour title and first in the United States, earning the $600,000 top prize.
After narrowly missing out at Shadow Creek last year, Coughlin led from a first-round tie and never relinquished the position across the four rounds at the star-studded Las Vegas event, co-sanctioned by the LET and LPGA. She said the win felt especially meaningful after coming close in 2024: “I didn’t get it done earlier in the year last year when I had a couple of chances and that really bothered me.”
World No. 2 Nelly Korda carded a three-over 75 on Sunday, making one birdie on the par-five 18th, and recorded her third successive runner-up finish after opening the season with a win in Orlando. “I’m just going to stick to what I’m doing,” Korda said. “I’m really happy with the way that my game is trending.”
Maguire birdied the 72nd hole to join Korda in second after a final-round 71. The only other player under par was Miyu Yamashita, who finished one under after a 74 on Sunday.
The $4m event attracted 38 of the top 40 players in the world. Denmark’s Nanna Koerstz Maden tied for seventh on one over, Spain’s Carlota Ciganda tied ninth one further back, and England’s Charley Hull finished tied 15th on five over.
Players noted how difficult birdies were at Shadow Creek, likening the challenge to a major. Coughlin, comfortable around the 6,765-yard track despite this year’s switch from match to stroke play, produced a key moment early in the final round. She rolled in a downhill, right-to-left 45-foot birdie putt on the par-three eighth; Korda three-putted the same hole, suddenly handing Coughlin a six-shot lead that effectively settled the contest.
Coughlin tightened her focus as others faltered. “Not even just bogeys, but you can make a lot of big numbers out there,” she said. “So I was sticking to my game plan and trying to focus on staying in my routine as much as I could and make as many pars as I possibly could.”
