For the first time in 15 years, three drivers enter the Formula 1 season finale with the title still up for grabs: Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri head to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix fighting for the championship.
Norris leads by 12 points over Verstappen and 16 over Piastri, so a podium would be enough to secure the world title, although nothing is straightforward in F1. Verstappen and Piastri realistically need to win on Sunday and hope Norris encounters misfortune or makes a costly mistake.
In the Constructors’ battle, Mercedes sit 33 points clear of Red Bull in the fight for runners-up behind McLaren. Abu Dhabi is the final race with the current cars before new regulations arrive in 2026, which could reshuffle the pecking order.
Yas Marina Circuit
The Yas Marina Circuit was revised in 2021 to create more overtaking opportunities, adding more sweeping corners and making it easier to follow around the 3.281-mile track. The best overtaking spots remain Turn Six and Turn Nine at the ends of the back straights, while the final sector tests a car’s downforce and balance.
Weather in Abu Dhabi
Rain is not expected. Temperatures should reach about 28°C during the day and drop to around 23°C for the evening sessions, including Saturday qualifying and Sunday’s race.
