Unai Emery Tactics
Emery has long most commonly favoured a 4-2-3-1 formation, though there have also been occasions he has preferred a 4-4-2.
With both systems his team’s ability to attack is led by their central midfielders, and the double pivot so often used.
As per usual, Unai Emery has experimented with a number of different formations so far in his time at the helm of Villarreal.
The 4-1-4-1 formation has been the most commonly used by the manager, but he’s also shifted to more of a 4-3-3, 4-4-1-1 and even on occasion utilizing a 4-4-2.
It is however under the 4-1-4-1, their first-choice formation at this stage, where they’ve had the most success and remain undefeated in the league when deploying the system. The 4-1-4-1 features many distinguished players, some of whom have been at the club for years.
Most notably in terms of long-term players, Sergio Asenjo has kept his place in goal under Emery; while captain Mario Gaspar remains the club’s first-choice right-back.
At centre-back however, Emery has established the formidable partnership of former Real Madrid and Napoli man Raul Albiol, and youngster Pau Torres.

Unai emery good ebening
During his reign at Arsenal, Emery made a name for himself as he always hilariously started his press conferences with a ‘Good Ebening’ opener.
Emery was always on the receiving end due to his shaky pronunciation of Good Evening. It would be interesting to see if he will carry on with the ‘Good Ebening’ catchphrase in England.
His first matches will be against Manchester United in the Premier League and the League Cup.
Former Arsenal coach Unai Emery will return to the Premier League in November as the new head coach of Aston Villa, the English club announced on Monday.
Emery, who leaves his post at Spanish club Villarreal, takes over from Steven Gerrard who was sacked last week after Villa slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Fulham.
Wife
Arsenal boss Unai Emery was dating a Spanish bar owner at the same time as seeing a UK-based businesswoman, it has emerged.
Last week, Brit Sacha Wright told The Sun on Sunday that the football boss branded her a “white witch” — blaming her for his team’s poor form that got him the sack after she ended their two-year relationship.
But now we can reveal Gunners flop Unai, 48, fired by Arsenal last November, has also been dating bar owner Lucila Vila Segui in his native Spain.
A source close to her said tonight: “Lucila has travelled all over the world with Unai and, while they are not married, they have lived together like man and wife.
“They’ve been together more than ten years and she has been his partner ever since he split from his actual wife, Luisa.
“She is still with Unai now. It has caused great confusion because Sacha says she was with him until last month.
